Abstract

Social-emotional development refers to a child's character development in adjusting to their environment, interacting and communicating, and being able to play, learn, and cooperate with their peers. A child develops empathy and high tolerance toward others. Parental guidance is the role of parents in laying the foundation of behavior for their children, through actions in interaction and communication to support the optimal development of the child. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a positive relationship between parental guidance and social-emotional development in early childhood. This research involved 64 respondents, who were parents of students. The non-parametric Spearman's rho correlation test yielded a coefficient of 0.519 with a significance level of 0.000, thus the hypothesis of this study is accepted. The parental guidance variable contributes 65.3% effectively to the social-emotional development variable in early childhood at TK Petra Terpadu Tambangan Mijen. Meanwhile, the remaining 34.7% of social-emotional development is influenced by other factors. Keywords: Social-Emotional Development, Parental Guidance
