Abstract

Adversity quotient is an individual's ability to face obstacles and the ability to turn failure into an opportunity for improvement in achieving their goals. Meanwhile, achievement motivation is the drive that provides purpose or direction to behavior and operates on the individual either consciously or unconsciously, with a focus on achieving certain accomplishments or academic achievements. This study was conducted to test the hypothesis that there is a positive relationship between achievement motivation and adversity quotient among students at SMA Negeri 9 Semarang. The conclusion of the research is drawn based on the output of Spearman's rho non-parametric correlation test analysis on 104 students from SMA Negeri 9 Semarang who participated as respondents. The statistical calculation of the adversity quotient and achievement motivation variable scores showed a coefficient of 0.759 with a significance level of 0.00, which means p < 0.01. The correlation coefficient and significance obtained also indicate a positive relationship between the two variables (not negative), with a very significant correlation level.
